On behalf of public authorities, VWS builds or refurbishes water production plants, wastewater treatment plants and sludge treatment facilities. Its ground rules are to anticipate regulatory requirements and guarantee the quality, safety and environmental benefit of its treatment facilities. Regions with a scarcity of freshwater are increasingly calling on VWS for seawater desalination, a technology in which it is undisputedly the world leader. The three major contracts signed in Spain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in 2007 bear witness to this trend. VWS's business with industrial companies covers production of process water (demineralized or ultrapure water, etc.), and effluent and sludge treatment and recycling.
