The ESSEC business school Paris's Institute of Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship and Veolia Water yesterday signed a research partnership agreement to analyze, evaluate and develop the social business xperiment being carried out by Grameen Veolia Water Ltd to produce safe drinking water for rural communities in Bangladesh.

Veolia wins 12-year contract to manage water services in Royan, France

The municipality of Royan has awarded Veolia Water a delegated management contract for its water production and distribution services. The contract came into effect on January 1, 2010 and will generate estimated cumulative revenue of 17.3 million euros over its 12-year duration.

Mr. Henri Proglio has been appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EDF by Order of French council of Ministers.

The change of governance announced for Veolia Environnement is confirmed and the following appointments, voted by the meeting of the Veolia Environnement Board of Directors on November 2, 2009, will take effect on the date of publication of the Order:

Mr. Henri Proglio will exercise the functions of the Chairman of the Board of Directors,
Mr. Louis Schweitzer is appointed Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors,
Mr. Antoine Frérot is appointed Chief Executive Officer.

The Veolia Environnement ("VE") Board of Directors, chaired by Chairman and CEO Henri Proglio, met on October 21 and unanimously expressed its preference for maintaining the Company's current status as a Société Anonyme (public limited company under French law) governed by a Board of Directors, if Mr. Proglio were to be appointed Chairman and CEO of EDF. If such were to happen, the functions of Chairman of the Veolia Environnement Board of Directors would be separated from those of the VE Chief Executive Officer.

Brazil - Veolia Water is awarded new contract by Petrobras, the Brazilian Oil & Gas company, to supply new water and reuse treatment station.

The Brazilian oil company Petrobras has awarded Veolia Water's subsidiary Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, under a 50/50 joint venture with Enfil, a Brazilian water treatment engineering company, the complete supply and construction of a water treatment and reuse station at Abreu e Lima Refinery, in Ipojuca, Pernambuco State. The amount of this contract for Veolia Water is worth about 119 million Euros.

Operating cash flow of €1,978 million, a decline of 4.9% at constant exchange rates as compared with the first half of 2008, thus an operating cash flow margin stable as compared with the full-year 2008 at 11.3%.
