Paris, October 12, 2006 - Veolia Water, the water division of Veolia Environment, has just signed a partnership with the Russian companies Evraziysky (investment company) and EWP (Eurasian Water Partnership, management company) for the development of water and wastewater projects in Russia.
For the time being, Veolia Water will acquire an interest in the Company EWP which, at term, will amount to 50%, and will assure water and wastewater services to the town of Rostov via the company Voda Rostova.
Under the framework of this partnership Veolia Water will bring its international experience in the management of water and wastewater service contracts, in particular for the setting up of projects which entail international financial organisms, and its technical, operational and management expertise. Veolia Water notably proposes developing with EWP a competence centre for the water sector in Russia. Evarziysky and EWP will bring in their experience of the Russian water market, based on their presence in the towns of Rostov-on-Don and Omsk.
This partnership will enable Veolia Water to pursue its development in Russia in a local context of strong economic growth.
Veolia Water has been present in Russia for 10 years. The company operates in Saint Petersburg where it is service provider to the company Vodokanal Saint-Petersburg.
