Sludge treatment facility

The Osbertstown Sludge Treatment Facility is a new development to treat sludge cake from Osberstown WWTP and othe WWTP's in the county. The Works, when completed, will be the sludge hub centre for the County of Kildare, receiving, and treating sludge produced in the county. The project scope involves the construction of a Sludge Thermal plant to process 8,210 tds/year, together with the Operation & Maintenance of the facility for up to twenty years, from setting to work.

  • Sludge processing plant installed includes the following major elements:
  •  Sludge Reception Unit for both imported and thickened sludges ;
  •  Sludge Storage Silos and Conveyor systems;
  •  Dryer Unit and Ancillaries ;

The Thermal Sludge Drier (installed capacity 4.12 t/hr water evaporation) uses proven Klein Drying Technology and produces a granular form of Class A biosolids suitable for agricultural and other beneficial reuse disposal routes. The design procedures employed included full HAZOP and the incorporation of the most up to date safety systems and odour control treatment.
