Dialogue with stakeholders Wraysbury Lakes Liaison group, United Kingdom

Consensus: Dialogue between all stakeholders of the Wraysbury Lakes Site to the South East of London.

Issue

Three Valleys Water is the owner of a 100 ha site that includes a range of habitats, including lakes, in the South West of London. The site supports different activities: including sailing, fishing, bird watching and walking all within areas of land which have been identified as important wildlife sites. It was a priority to find a way to protect biodiversity and water resources while allowing local residents and interest groups to enjoy this very special site.

Veolia Water answer

Three Valleys Water created, in 1996, the Wraysbury Lakes Liaison Group. Fifteen organisations are represented in this group. These include, among others, local authorities, specialist agencies to advise on for ecology and ornithology as well as a fishing club and a private sailing club. Thanks to regularmeetings with each of the organisations and through the Wraysbury Lakes Liaison Group it has been possible to accommodate the needs of the different groups. This means that residents and visitors can benefit from this space and enjoy the protected habitats.
