City and County of Honolulu.

A popular tourist resort in the Hawaüan Islands. It has a rapidly increasing population and many industrial customers including, a refinery owned by Chevron and a power station.

A US Federal Consent Decree required that Honolulu recycled 38 Mlld of its wastewater by July 2001.

Results

  • Reuse releases potable water- 11.4 Mlld of potable water available to allow the planned growth of the community.
  • Assist the City to comply with the Federal Consent Decree. The public private parbnership with Veolia Wafer North America operating services experience minimises costs to the City's taxpayers.
  • Reduce potable water consumption for non-potable uses.
  • Quality reclaimed water used for irrigatione.g. golf courses and landscaping, to support the tourism indcrstry.
  • Reduce environmental pollution from the sewage being discharged to the sea in this exotic holiday location.
  • High quality boiter feed water produced for the refinery and power station at reduced costs.
