Rousset-sur-Arc - France Microelectronics industry

 

The client

Created in 1979, the microelectronic center in Rousset-sur-Arc currently produces 35% of all semi-conductors in France and is considered as the leading center of its kind in France and in southern Europe.

The area employs 6,000 people. The site includes a dedicated wastewater treatment plant for the processing of industrial wastewater.

The plant serves several companies:

  • ­Atmel and ST-Microelectronics
  • ­Elis (laundry)
  • ­Air Liquide (nitrogen)
  • ­Rousset cooperative wine cellar

The client's needs

The industries located in Rousset-sur-Arc needed wastewater treatment services adapted to the specific effluent type generated and in line with the disposal requirements into the river Arc.

Acting on behalf of these industries, local government looked for a partner for the design, construction and operation of a wastewater treatment plant.

Key requirements were:

  • ­a comprehensive quality insurance system,
  • ­management focus on safety and reliability,
  • ­restrictive regulatory conditions: COD : 25 mg/L ; Fluorine: 1.7mg/L.

Our solution

Following a public tender process, Veolia Water won the contract for the design, operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, including the following services :

  • ­monitoring of the regulating compliance to of the effluent entering the plant,
  • ­management of the treated effluent inspection tanks,
  • operation with remote monitoring and 24-hour maintenance.

The plant has the capacity to process 520 m3 per hour. Based on the origin of the wastewater, it uses:

  • ­four physical-chemical treatment systems,
  • ­one biological treatment system,
  • ­one soluble aqueous ammonia treatment unit.
