Health and Safety

Antoine Frérot, Veolia Water's CEO, sets out the group's Health and Safety Policy

"Veolia Water is committed to guaranteeing the physical safety and preserving the health of its employees, taking into account geographical, cultural and social contexts.

This standard of excellence, which seeks to achieve the highest level of performance in this area, is part of its social policy, positionning occupational health and safety as one of its foundations.

Its aim also consists in controlling the impact of its activities on third parties and external companies (subcontractors, suppliers, etc.).

Risk assessment, which this policy has placed at the heart of its approach towards the prevention of risks at work, is carried out on an ongoing basis, enabling the periodic definition of objectives and actions plans in the areas of work organisation, equipment and personnel training and information.

Veolia Water has adopted as its guidelines in Health and Safety matters the local safety regulations in each country together with requirements set by standards developed internally in the company, based on the principles of the International Labour Organization.

Each individual, at all levels in the company, is responsible for his/her own Health and Safety and must watch over that of others, wether they be colleagues, employees of external companies or third parties.

All managers, members of staff and staff representative bodies are involved in these processes of analysis, capitalising on initiatives and implementing prevention and protection measures.

At every level, the management has a central, preponderant role to play in organising, informing, communicating and monitoring the application of this policy. This applies to operations performed by company staff as well as to those by external companies.

The analysis of incidents, accidents and situations of exposure that are harmful to health is intended to lay down or adapt systems of prevention and to prepare the staff for emergency situations.

All these obligations are an integral part of our profession and the results obtained contribute to the assessment of our individual and collective performance.

Veolia Water shown its solidarity towards its staff by offering them assistance when they are in difficult circumstances, and this includes carrying out specific actions in the field of Personal Health.

It is by integrating these Health and Safety actions into day-to-day operations and by regularly evaluating and adjusting them that all Veolia Water staff will become actively involved.

I am counting on the involvement of all to ensure that these principles are known, understood and applied by everyone so that our Health and Safety Policy will result in strengthening our actions and constantly improving our results.

I will personally and regularly see to it that these principles are concretely applied."
