Relying first and foremost on internal resources

  • Industrial outsourcing of water services

Veolia Water has relied first and foremost on its internal resources to deal with this development in its business activities.

Developing within Veolia Water

Mobility is essential for Veolia Water's growth facilitating the development of skills and the sharing of different cultures.

Mobility may be geographical, but that is only one facet of mobility that in fact covers all forms of career development which the company can offer to its employees. Mobility may mean changing sector by going for example from the municipal to the industrial sector, occupying a functional post then an operational one, or even changing division within the Veolia Environnement Group.

Personal account of Lily Li

Currently working in Pudong, Lily Li began her career at Veolia Water in Tianjin in 1997.

"At the time I was working as a secretary for the Board of Directors and the Director. Then, in 2001, thanks to my scientific education, I had my first opportunity to work elsewhere by spending six months at Chengdu, on the BOT project for the water treatment plant 6 B, as an electric engineer.
While working on the proposal for Veolia Water's Shanghai-Pudong project, I had the opportunity to work in Shanghai. After the project had been chosen, I was then transferred to Pudong in September 2002 and I am currently the assistant to the Operations Director.

With all I've experienced, I've learnt more then I thought I would about the water industry and the organisational capabilities of this sector.

Of course, it is both a huge change and an important step for me. But with all I've experienced, I've learnt more then I thought I would about the water industry and the organizational capabilities of this sector. And, I'm happy to be working in Shanghai".

Personal account by Olivier Jenoc

39 years old, deputy director for Europe, Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies.

"I joined Veolia Transportation UK in 2000 in London where I was responsible for business development. Beginning of 2002, I wished to return both to Paris and move towards a managerial post in a profit centre. In the beginning, I hadn't thought of changing division, even if I was aware that there were very few vacancies for this type of position. But thanks to the efforts of the Human Resources departments within the different divisions and within VE, I can say that the position I was offered at Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies exactly matched what I was looking for and offered me a real opportunity to progress.

From Veolia Transportation to Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies

After having known a decentralized business unit, focused on a local market, I am now discovering the international dimension of our activities. I also get a lot of satisfaction in learning about VWS's business and its structure".
