Veolia Water has been working in Niger on a 10-year partnership contract with the NigerState having been awarded the contract following an international call for tender.

Through SEEN - Société d'Exploitation des Eaux du Niger (Water Operating Company of Niger), Veolia Water provides drinking water to 52 urban districts including the capital Niamey.

As a result, it provides drinking water to almost 2 million people.

Services for municipal customers:

Veolia Water is using its technical expertise to assist in a major Water Sector Program introduced by the Niger government in order to improve the running of water services and to develop the network infrastructure.

As part of this contract Veolia Water is primarily responsible for:

  • updating network plans;
  • improving network efficiency and customer satisfaction;
  • providing all staff with training in good working practices;
  • monitoring the quality of the water supply;
  • supplying water to rural areas and outlying districts by installing stand pipes and providing socially assisted connections with financial aid from the World Bank.
