A comprehensive range of water and wastewater services for industrial customers
Veolia Water has been active in Singapore for many years serving a wide range of industrial customers.
Since 2006, with its partner Showa Kankyo Systems, Veolia Water has been operating an industrial contract supplying ultra pure water and water reclaim for Showa Denko's hard disk manufacturing facility.
The Showa Denko group is one of Japan's major conglomerates covering several industrial sectors, from petrochemicals to aluminum and electronics.
Showa Denko Hard Disk Singapore decided to expand its hard disk media capacities, which increased demand for both ultrapure water and wastewater treatment.
Veolia Water, as partner with Showa Engineering in the project company "Showa Kankyo System K.K.", was entrusted to design, build, finance and operate the ultrapure water production plant. Upon completion of the first phase of the project the plant produces 2,664 m3/d of high quality ultrapure water used in hard disks finishing.
The treatment process includes: multi-media and carbon filter pre-treatment, two-stage reverse osmosis, continuous deionization, membrane degassing and polishing (UV treatment, mixed bed ion exchange and ultrafiltration).
Reclaimed water, including approximately 75% of ultrapure water production, is fed back to the raw water supply, minimizing the environmental impact of the project.
