Dungarvan Wastewater Treatment Plant

Dungarvan, is located on the south east coast of Ireland. The town has experienced considerable growth over the last 10 years, and remains one of the county's more popular tourist centres.

The Contract Covers the Design-Build and Operation of a 25,000 PE (design) Wastewater Treatment Plant. The conventional activated sludge plant also includes a sludge dewatering and drying facility.

The Sludge Processing Facility will act as a processing hub (80,000 PE) for wastewater sludge generated at other wastewater treatment plants in the surrounding area. The sludge processing facility will thicken and dry Sludge for beneficial re-use to agriculture.

A smaller 1,600 PE wastewater treatment plant is also included under the scope of the contract, which consists of primary and secondary clarifier complete with lamella and an MBBR for biological treatment.

The plant will be equipped with a full SCADA system with telemetry links to the outlying pump stations to be built under a separate contract (also awarded to Veolia Water Ireland)

The plant is due for completion in 2006, at which time the operations phase of the contract is to commence for a period of 20 years
