Veolia Water settled in the Sultanate of Oman

Following its first contracts in the Middle East region, Veolia Water settled in the Sultanate of Oman.

In June 2006, Veolia Water was awarded a 5-year management contract with an optional three-year extension from the OWSC (Oman Wastewater Services Company), the state-owned company given responsibility by the Omani Government for all wastewater services in Muscat, population, 700 000.

Few months later, early 2007 marked the signing of a second contract in the country, to build, finance and operate the reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant in Sur. The plant, with a capacity of 80 200 m3/per day, will enable mains water to be supplied to the 350 000 inhabitants of the Sharqiyah region.
