Veolia Water operates in Central and Latin America through the company Proactiva Medio Ambiente, a joint venture between Veolia Environnement and FCC.

Proactiva has been operating in Colombia since 1989 and has three major contracts with the municipalities of Bogotá, Monteria and Tunja.

Main water services provided to municipal customers

Concesionaria Tibitoc S.A. E.S.P.

The city of Bogotá awarded Proactiva the contract to rehabilitate and operate the water treatment plant for Tibitoc. This plant has a capacity to produce 900,000 cubic meters/per day serving the city's three million inhabitants.

Proactiva Monteria E.S.P.

Proactiva was awarded the concession contract to manage the water and wastewater services for the city of Monteria on the 1 January 2000.
On the 25 January 2005 these services were awarded ISO 9001 certification which is a voluntary standard for quality management.
