In 2003 the city of Oslo awarded the contract to build the largest water treatment plant in Scandinavia to the AFS/Krüger consortium.Work on the project, which is entirely financed by the local authority, will be completed in 2008. In addition, this contract includes an option to operate the plant for 20 years (15+5). If this option is taken up, the plant will then be operated by Veolia Water.
Veolia Water through Krüger, its Danish design and build subsidiary, is working in partnership with the civil engineering company AF Spesialprosjekt (AFS), part of the Norwegian Group AF Gruppen AS, to build the new water treatment plant for the city of Oslo.
With this new water treatment plant, which will replace the current facility, the city of Oslo will significantly improve the quality of its water supply and reduce the capital's dependence on a sole natural water resource.
