Veoliaforce - Using the Expertise of Our Employees to Assist in Emergency Response and Development Initiatives

Veoliaforce (formerly Waterforce) is the humanitarian arm of the Veolia Environnement Foundation.

Its brief is to provide emergency humanitarian assistance, by sending experts and equipment to the stricken area in order to safeguard the water supply and prevent the outbreak of epidemics. It relies on a network of employees who volunteer both their time and expertise in order to assist those communities affected by the disaster.

With more than a decade of experience in the field of water, Veoliaforce currently brings together company employees who volunteer from all four sectors of the Group (Water, Waste, Energy and Transport).

In conjunction with emergency response operations, the volunteers also assist with international development projects supported by the Foundation.

Solid Partnerships

Over time Veoliaforce has come to be regarded as playing a vital role when it comes to international solidarity, alongside the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Red Cross, Solidarités, Première Urgence, Action against Hunger, and Secours Catholique - Caritas France etc.

It is also a "stand-by partner" of UNICEF, as such, volunteers from the company are mobilized in the event of a humanitarian crisis and offer the UN agency their expertise in supplying water and energy to the affected communities.

Trained Volunteers

Veoliaforce is also a training centre whose objective is twofold:

  • to familiarize volunteers and partners (military doctors, French Red Cross) in the latest emergency response technologies;
  • to improve team cohesion and to teach volunteers how to work together under conditions similar to those on the ground.

Customized Equipment

Year in year out Veoliaforce carries out Research and Development devoted to the field of humanitarian response, with the aim of optimizing equipment and its performance during emergency operations carried out on the ground.

For example, by continually striving to optimize weight, ergonomics, sturdiness and production costs of units, a new generation of mobile water treatment units has been designed.
